Before a CDL can be issued, an applicant is required to pass the written General Knowledge test and any other written tests required for the class of commercial driver license the applicant wishes to obtain.
The General Knowledge written test is a multiple choice test. For example, Florida has a total of fifty (50) multiple choice questions. Individual endorsement tests usually have between twenty (20) and thirty (30) multiple choice questions. Every CDL test at the DMV requires a passing score of at least 80% correct answers.
